The recipe she used called for apple puree in place of fat and produced delightfully moist muffins, which unfortunately stuck badly to these silicone cups. She said she didn't think it was the type of batter, but that she might have ruined the cups by scrubbing a bit too hard with a dish sponge.This morning I mixed a regular muffin recipe (which never sticks to metal molds if they are previously greased and dusted with flour) and baked it in these cups. Three of the cups had been greased/floured, the other three had not. It made no difference whatsoever, all of the muffins stuck. I couldn't get them out of the molds without breaking them. I do not understand this. If, as she said, the cups lost their nonstick properties because she washed them with a dish sponge, then the cups I greased and floured should have released the muffins just like any old mold would... I use them in my kids' lunch/bento boxes to hold small items (nuts, raisins, chick peas, etc) and keep them separated. They have been washed in the dishwasher many times and are still in good shape. I recommend them! |
